The Philadelphia Tribune shared some “good news in the district” by highlighting the 2024-2025 Book Trust Teacher of the Year Cheryl Daniels. Cheryl teaches first grade at James R. Ludlow School in Philadelphia and has participated in the Book Trust program since 2021.
“I’m truly grateful to Book Trust for providing a program that brings the joy of reading to my students’ lives,” Cheryl shared. “Through Book Trust, we’ve taken ‘literary vacations,’ built personal libraries, and again this year, we will host a poetry café where students share their writing with their families. It’s been a powerful way to connect reading with creativity, confidence, and community.”
Since 2018, Book Trust has partnered with the School District of Philadelphia to support more than 52,000 students in choosing and owning 887,246 books. The partnership continued this year with more than 50 schools participating.
